How It Works.
Edexia is an AI essay grading and feedback tool built for VCE English. Trained by VCAA assessors and backed by Y Combinator, it provides teacher-reviewed AI feedback on Text Response and Creating Text essays, calibrated to official VCAA rubrics.
Four steps, start to finish
Upload or scan
Teachers upload typed essays or scan handwritten work. Edexia transcribes handwriting automatically, so every student can be graded the same way regardless of how they write.
AI grades against VCAA rubrics
The system evaluates each criterion using the same rubric descriptors VCAA assessors use. It generates a grade and detailed, paragraph-level feedback that references specific parts of the student's writing.
Teacher reviews and edits
Every grade and comment is editable. Teachers can rewrite feedback, adjust grades, add voice notes, or build on the AI's draft. Nothing reaches students until the teacher approves it.
Students receive feedback
Once released, students see criterion-level grades, inline annotations, and actionable next steps for improvement. Everything is structured so students know exactly what to work on.
Teachers stay in control
Edit everything.
Rewrite, delete, or build on any AI comment before release.
Add your voice.
Record personal voice notes on any piece of feedback.
Release when ready.
Nothing goes to students until you review and hit release.
